DIA DE LOS MUERTOS IS NOVEMBER 1ST & 2ND
LHE and the Family Engagement Committee warmly invite you to contribute to our school's Día de los Muertos ofrenda (altar) honoring the lives of loved ones (human and furry) who have passed away. From October 30thv- November 6th, families may view and add to our LHE community-wide installation. You can read more about ofrenda here. Please talk with your student(s) about Día de los Muertos, the purpose of the altar, and the importance of respecting la ofrenda. Please sign up here to help monitor the LHE ofrenda at drop off and pick up times. Some students will never have seen an ofrenda before, and they may have many questions....and wandering hands. Help us help them learn to respect our community-wide installation of memory, art, and love! LHE is partnering with Seattle Humane for a holiday pet food drive! Our school is located in an area that is currently served by one of Seattle Humane’s Pet Food Bank Partners, which means our donations will directly help pets in and around the Lake Hills neighborhood!
When: November 4th-22nd Where: Drop off donations to Mr. Spilles in classroom 204 Goal: 500lbs of dry cat and dog food = 100 pets fed! *Special thanks to Mr. Spilles who championed for this opportunity to help our local pet community, and for whom Seattle Humane has a special place in his heart because his dog, Hugo (pictured below), was adopted from them! |
