Golden Acorn Award

The Golden Acorn Award is a very prestigious Washington State PTA award that is given out by local PTAs/PTSAs for exemplary and outstanding volunteerism and service to PTA. Honorees that receive this award have volunteer experience at the local PTA level, in the community and at the school and/or school district level.

The 2022-2023 winners of Lake Hills Elementary’s Golden Acorn Award are Judy Cam and Jerry Nguyen! Judy and Jerry were LHE PTSA leaders when their kids attended Lake Hills, and have remained a big part of the community.  They have both been on the Lake Hills Elementary PTSA for the last two years and have been instrumental in reviving the board after the pandemic. 

Their institutional knowledge has been invaluable to helping the new board put on events, support the teachers and students and key communications. Despite not having any kids at the school, they have spent a lot of time volunteering at PTSA sponsored events, such as school picture day, teacher appreciation, the reptile man and movie nights for the benefit of the students and teachers. 

Judy is also the Secretary of the International School PTSA and is always willing to raise a hand to help when it is most needed. Jerry serves as a Trustee on the Bellevue Schools Foundation and is a tremendous support in helping the board run smoothly. 

The LHE PTSA is immensely grateful to Judy and Jerry for their dedication and willingness to lend a hand to support our team. Thank you, Judy and Jerry, for your tremendous efforts in supporting our children, our school, and our community. You continue to amaze us!
